The Life of a Lead

December 17th, 2008

We take pride in the quality of our leads, and to understand why, you should understand the story of a lead - how a homeowner reaches us, how we process their information, how companies are selected for lead delivery and how it winds up in your delivery area. So here it is: a day in the life of Mr Daniel Craig of Colchester…

Daniel Craig was fed up with his kitchen and wanted to know how much it would cost to have it replaced. In the knowledge that Google is God and such information is freely available on the internet, he searched for ‘kitchen quotes’ and found the site KitchenQuoter.co.uk. Entering his details into the simple form, he was asked to give dimensions for the kitchen, approximate the length of surfaces he required and length of units he would like. Was it a modern or traditional style he was looking for and did he want to include new appliances. He was quoted an instant online price of £6000 for his dream kitchen, and he was pleased to have a ballpark figure from KitchenQuoter.

Twenty minutes later, Mr Craig received a phone call from Ranald, a friendly Scotsman working at the Price Engines callcenter in Derby. Ranald introduced himself, and went on to confirm the details Daniel had filled in on KitchenQuoter. He then asked him if he was interested in getting quotes for his kitchen project and offered to pass his details on to up to three recommended companies in his local area, so that they could do a site visit and give him a more accurate estimate. Mr Craig said he was still interested in going ahead with a new kitchen, and would very much like to get some more accurate quotes and compare three companies.

Ranald verified the details of Mr Craig’s project, confirmed his address and that Mr Craig was the homeowner and entered his information into our homeowner database. within 30 minutes, our ‘placer’ program had found all the kitchen companies around Colchester that are part of our ‘Quoter’ network, and passed the details of Mr Craig’s project to the top three, based on the product and location match as well as other factors including the amount and quality of the customer feedback we’ve had for them in the past. The kitchen project details were texted, emailed or faxed (or a combination of all three) to the three companies simultaneously as well as being appearing in their online customer admin areas. Within a few days, all three companies had contacted Mr Craig, been round to give an estimate and, armed with an understanding of how much he could expect to pay, he was able to get a good balance between cost and quality and hired Quantum Kitchens - one of our recommended companies - to build his perfect kitchen. Thanks to KitchenQuoter, Mr Craig was happy to have found the best kitchen company, and the company were happy to have found an excellent customer.

Mr Craig received a follow-up email from Price Engines seven days after his original quote request encouraging him to leave some feedback on the companies that had contacted him, for their benefit and the benefit of future Home Improvement Quotes customers. He also subscribed to the monthly Home Improvement Quotes email newsletter, offering him fantastic tips and ideas for future home improvements projects.

Delighted with his new kitchen, Mr Craig left very positive feedback for Quantum Kitchens. Quantum Kitchens kept in touch with their customer and were able to secure a future installation for someone he recommended to them. Angels sang, stars shone, and this happy union of customer and kitchen designer was truly blessed for eternity - all thanks to Price Engines and KitchenQuoter.co.uk.

Renegade Conservatory Guy has asked how to create a viral video. Knowing what a success the Will it Blend videos have been for the blender manufacturer who makes them, RCG thought it would be an interesting exercise to create an equivalent for the double glazing industry, but as yet hasn’t found the perfect formula.

Much like Carlsberg, Price Engines don’t make viral videos - but if we did, they would probably be the best viral videos in the world. Without further ado, then, we present 10 Tips for creating awesome viral videos:

The lucky company who bought that lead off us could be looking at up to a £100,000 contract, all from a lead which cost our regular price of £19.

Just another day’s work here at Price Engines, connecting Home Improvements Companies to customers who are looking for the products and services they provide.

Sign up online today and take advantage of our online lead generation service. It’s easy, speedy and free to join, and our leads are still the best that money can buy.

I.T Dept’s double life exposed!

November 28th, 2008

Our I.T manager had a nasty shock the other night when he pulled up at the side of the road to post a letter. As he was getting out of his car, so an old lady (who had been walking with another old lady, both carrying heavy shopping bags) opened his rear door and threw her shopping bags onto his seat.

She then started to get into his car just as he was getting out.

She thought he was coming to open the door for her, but realising he wasn’t who she thought he was exclaimed “Your not my son!”.

Her friend was apparently in hysterics whilst our I.T Manager recovered her shopping from his car.

No harm done - apart from an overdose of Harry Enfield quotations mostly including the phrase “he’s a lovely young man”.

Customers flock to new forum feature

November 18th, 2008

Customers have been flocking to our new forum feature (under ‘Help’ in your customer admin area), since it’s launch last friday.

We’ve introduced the forum so that companies can ask questions, get help and share these questions and other news with other companies who use Price Engines services.

Here’s a typical example of one of our earlier posts:

A few customers have asked us to provide an estimate of the maximum lead flow that their account may generate; so we have made a new button on the home page https://delivery.priceengines.co.uk/?ref=stats.

How it works and what it all means:

When you click on the “Get Max Lead Flow Estimate” button we look at the products that are selected on that account, and the postcode areas selected and use some previous history and chicken entrails to come up with an estimated maximum daily lead flow. This figure should be on the high side to give some level of security against too many leads.

If you’re finding this figure is well wrong - let me know - and I’ll get a new chicken.

Graham

If you haven’t already, then make time to visit our forum - you’re automatically logged in when you enter your customer admin area so you can start posting right away. Go on! We’d love to hear from you.

Friday is Company Newsletter Day - don’t miss yours

November 14th, 2008

We have a very exciting Newsletter being sent this Friday to all the home improvement companies in our network.

Firstly, we’ll be showing you how you can update the visible profile that homeowners see when they login on their own online area to leave feedback / see which companies we’ve recommended to them.

This Profile page also allows you as a company to upload a brochure or sales sheet in pdf format. Then when a home owner views your details, they can also view or download your brochure.

There’s space for a personalised message as well so you could use the opportunity to say something unique about your company and why the homeowner should go with your quote.

If you haven’t already, then log in to your Customer Admin Area and update your Profile which can be found under ‘Account Details’ - ‘Update Profile’ from the left hand navigation panel.

Secondly, we’ll also be introducing our new Forum facility where companies can interact with us and other companies - share common questions and answers, seek help etc.

You can find ‘Forum’ under the ‘Help’ section in your Customer Admin Area

Well that’s it for now - we’re off to put the finishing touches to what promises to be another very exciting and informative newsletter - look out for it appearing in your email inbox later today.
